Akademisk Boldklub SBU Division 1 Group 1 Champions Autumn 2008 11a-side

Akademisk boldkub -AB
SBU Division 1 Group 1 (11a-side) Autumn 2008 CHAMPIONS.

This new era of 11a-side football has its first Champions. A continuation of their fantastic six years as a 7a-side "elite" team crowns them as the best of the best SBU (Sjælland Bold Union) can offer as 11a-side football kicks off.
They have done it with great style and class and have set a standard many will have a difficulty matching. Movement of the ball for each other first touch and passing qualities added with a confidence to challenge the opposition and to win the ball week in and week out consistently, make them an opposition to be feared. Group 1 is by far the strongest of the Division 1 groups.
The other group winners are also worthy future opposition and old rivals who have as expected also made the transition from 7a-side to 11a-side with success, namely Brøndby IF and Greve , even though their respective groups have technically been made up of slightly weaker teams.
Bjørn Dyrmose (AB,s trainer over the last 3½ år) will say goodby after the final curtain drops - a ture to Odense were the "elite" teams from the rest of Denmark will collect for an unofficial duel to find the Danish Champions. SBU (Sjælland Bold Union) that AB play under are 1 of 6 Ball Unions that cover Denmark.
KBU , SBU , JBU, BBU, LFBU, FBU
I would accept 2-1 odds that they win it, after wittnesing their class and profesinalism.
Every one at AB hope that the new trainer can take up where Bjørn has left off, but it,s an incredibly tough act to follow and expectations will be sky high!Bjørn and earlier than him Dennis Bønner (the first 3 of their 6½ year history) have laid a fantastic foundation.
Will Bjørn after a break do it again and take over Dennis Bønners year group 1999 (also Division 1 Champions in their age group)- i hope so :
I know where i will take my other son Oliver for a trial !
after my first son William has developed and thrived so well under Bjørns guidence.

Helsinki Cup U/13s - Finland Tour 2008
The Helsinki Cup.
AB,s group come mainly from Finland except for Swedish team Djurgårdens.
All agree AB where exremely unlucky not to play for a 1st to 4th place and instead had to be satisfied with a 6th place after a penalty shoot out against Kaapo (Finland) a team who they dominated throughout 70 minutes to end normal time 1-1.(6th out of 16 teams).
The killer blow came from my own son William who burnt the sudden death shoot out penalty to send Kaapo further. William was devastated by his penalty miss, nothing i could say about getting back up on his horse could console him, his personally worst moment of his young career.( I neaded to remind him about David Beckham and Stuart Pierce and that it wont stop him being a very good player)
Invaluble experience and character building are what the boys get out of such a tour. His team mates rallied around him despite their dissapointment. This reaction will bind William even tighter to his team mates as they fight on in the all important leauge back at home.
The AB boys anyway had 5 star treatment in their hotel with bubble baths and saunas ect. AB only lost one game against FC Futura. They infact had beaten the top teams in the same tournament.
Futura (Finish host club)   0 v 3 AB
IIves                               0 v 1 AB
FC Honka                        0 v 1 AB
HyPs                              0 v 3 AB
Kaapo                            1 v 1 AB   (4-3 penalty shoot out)
Djurgårdens IF                 0 v 1 AB
FC Futura                       1 v 0 AB
Helsinki Hell, Turkish baths , saunas, swimming pools, and a little bit of football, 13 little Angels (and one big one).
The Samsung Cup 11 a-side U13s - 2008

The Samsung Cup   : 8th,9th,and 10th August.
After a 4 week summer break preperation to the new 11-aside season is earnestly in swing with only two weeks before the season kicks of for seriouse.
This preseason intense tournement was perfekt preperation, for getting the boys in condition, with not less than 5 full games in 3 days.
8 good teams participated with AB winning the Final against FM convincingly 5 v 1.
AB v Allerød     2-0
AB v Ishøj 50    1-1
AB v BSV         4-1
AB v Hørsholm  3-1
                                          Cup FinalAB   5  v  1  FM
Williams part, was significant, firstly his trainer informed him that from now on he will come to play more on the right side in midfield (his favourite place), although he had some problems adjusting (AB 1v 1 Ishøj ) he managed however to score the vital equalizer late in that messy game. In the final he scored a great team and solo goal, dribbling and running a quater of the pitch ,to chip the goalkeeper after only 30 seconds play,. later in the game he dampeded FMs enthusiasem after they had pulled the game back to 2v1 from a well taken free kick from outside the box. William with a great wing run dribbling a determined defender and laying in a perfekt cross for an AB tap in 3 v 1. After dominating the previouse 15 minutes FM suddenly were on the back foot and the Final was as good as won from that point.
First prize was an Ipod (Samsung of course). In between these two significant explosions of energy, he played a steady and reliable marking and tackling game.8 out of 10. (A good day to have one of his best performances for AB).This is a cracking good side! Even with players like Drillon and Anders not available. Jeppe in defence is suddenly playing really well 8 out of 10 , as are Thor Bjorn , Daniel , and Kasper also 8 out of 10.
The whole of AB,s team were unbelievably energetic after an intense tournement and their condition proved to be a vital factor today. All their training and games are really paying dividends with 11-a-side football.

28.06.2008 ABRanders           2-3    CUP FINAL
Finale. 25 min.
Randers er et af Danmarks stærkeste hold. Det vidner holdets indsats i Nørhalne Elitecup i maj om. Randers vandt Cup'en over hold som Szczecin (Polen), West Bromwich, Skovbakken, Hanmmarby FF, Helsingborg, FC Honka, Boo FF, AIK Stockholm, Helsingborg IF, Halmstad, Aab, AGF, OB, Hørsholm-Usserød og og Greve. I november 2007 vandt Randers OBs træningsstævne.

The final 7-a-side elite leauge matches.

Brøndby 4 v 3 AB .       SBU  Række 1 pulje 1     13/4/08
An elite game played by two very evenly matched sides. Played on an unusually small pitch under Brønbys conditions. In large parts of the game AB not only matched them but took the game to them. Brøndby stole the game in the last 2 minutes to rob AB of a share of the points. Williams part  in the game merited 7 / 10. Very close to scoring the ball was hand balled to stop a 100% sure shot on goal. Also William made 3/4 very good blocking tackles. Negative was his reaction to making small mistakes , he speculatet to much over them, and
the tempo of the game did not allow such a luxury. Head up and get on with it.! Drillon ABs atacker had a great game today 9/10

 AB 13 v 0 Fredensborg IF     SBU række 1 pulje 1            26/4/08
When your son and his team have trained hard all winter , excitment and tension builds up as the season starts, especially in what should be an "ELITE" leauge. Unfortunatly the Danish football youth policy has allowed sub standard teams to apply to come direct into division 1. Only after summer are the teams sorted into "real elite divisions"- a negative development especially when a miss match like this occurs.
Strange enough the score was only 2 v 0 at half time , but should have been 8 v 0. Besides 3 points AB got nothing out of this game. Good the danish governing body is in the process of doing a U-turn. Williams part in the game merrited 7 / 10 after rising from his sick bed and being free from school with a 39 fever he fullfilled his expected role - but not more today.  Steffan and
Casper two team mates had very good games on the wings. 9 / 10 and 8 / 10 respectively.

 AB   12 v 0 Solerød           SBU række 1 pulje 1

Greve 2 v 4  AB                   SBU række 1 pulje 1     31/5/08
After AB demolished Solerød 12 v 0 in the 3rd round AB finally met and defeated a high quality side and revenged themselves for loosing the 11 mands Opel Cup final to the ex Danish champion side Greve. A memorable game where AB must have been slighty underdogs at the start of this away game. This game had nothing less than top quality all the way through to a very memorable win. Greve 3 days later defeated top team Brondby to suddenly make it a 3 horse race with  3 of the best teams in
Denmark batterling it out to end this epoch of 7 mands football as supreme champions. Williams part in the game, solid hard work in defence merited  8/10

Stenløse 1 v 8 AB              SBU række 1 pulje 1  16/6/08

AB
1 v 3 Hørsholm            SBU række 1 pulje 1
All the winters hard træning and this seasons good results that helped to put them at the top with Brondby and Greve as contenders to finish as the top team in 7 mands football on "Sjælland" with a size of 1 third of Denmark, was thrown away today in this most dissapointing and totally unexpected defeat. Hørshholm showed they still have their former class that has categorised themselves over several years also as one of the best teams on "Sjælland", They have in the latest time however missed important players to other clubs , such as Brondby , that relegated them to another category. Hørsholm were out to prove a point , whilst AB complacent after their big win over Greve, never came into second gear until they were 2 goals behind. To little to late.
Williams part merited only 6/10. Only Anders reached an acceptable standard with an 8/10, there were today several who it was difficult to give a 5/10 . It appeared as though AB had took their foot of the gas, instead of keeping the pressure on Brøndby and Greve at the top.

AB 4 v 2
Tårstrup              SBU række 1 pulje 1
The last of the Elite 7 mens games except for an ultra ELITE tournement next weekend with most of Denmarks best and 2 of Polands, so ends an epoch of 6 years where AB have consistantly been at the highest level throughout. It was my privledge to referee this game, and although the quality faulted a little the victory ensured a very respectable third place behind Brøndby who they lost by 1 goal to, and behind Greve (Danmarks mester last year) who they beat in a memorable 2 v 4 win. WON 6 and LOST 2 , Division 1 Group 1.
Williams part in the game merited 8/10, It was noticable the defence was more unstabil when he was out and more stabil again when he was in.

Moving from little brother Bagsværd96 to big brother arch rivals AB96
Trainer and Son - Seperate paths !
After 5 years as Bagsværd 96 1st and 2nd team trainer with William my oldest son as a player i had a dilemma., I ran out of energy, and was tired, a lack of motivation and suddenly the years of concentrated hard work with up to 30hours a week on top of my daily job seemed to much. The Danish Ball Union DBU helped in destroying my long term plan , of winning the Danish championship , by taking away the Elite status of clubs and allowing free entry to whatever division a trainer decided he would like to enter a team.
Many miss matches occurred, leaving the best teams very frustrated and creating their own unofficial elite tournaments. On top of this i was gearing up towards 11a-side football when, suddenly it was decided by DBU that our year group of 1996 would have to play for another 2 years 7a-side.(In principal - more ball possession by the children and less focus on results or the trainers personal ambitions was a good idea, - but much can also be discussed about implementation, "One size does not fit everyone".)
Logistically it was a night mare and i was out each week with two sets of  7a-side games instead of 1 game of 11a-side , on top of i wanted to find time to train Olivers (my youngest Son's troop from the year 2000). More teams require more trainers, at a time when "good" trainers are difficult to acquire.
After the first of the 2 extra years, i realised i could not take my great little side further, Bagsværd 96 had peaked to early, We competed with the best but our poor resources (lack of sponsors and lack of quality help on the training pitch ,added also to a poor social backup from the parent group) proved to be too much. We proved we could compete over the winter months and the spring season , but we could not compete over the whole year to the standard i hoped. It was a hard pill to swallow and admit,.
AB our local big brother rivals also played at the same level Division1, but they had consistently been in the top 3 teams over 6 years, where up on we had fought our way through all the divisions and where relative new comers to this hard fought level,: Our very best place was over mid table in 4th place Division 1. William and i decided " If you can,t beat them join them "! (A tactical retreat). 5 years work and planning - come to a sudden end on impulse! After a parent meeting i decided enough was enough, Short and long i required more from everyone, and was not prepared for any nonsense when it came. The day after the end of season party were i sponsored both teams trophies and gave them their sponsored shirt (again myself) with name and number on, i wrote my resignation on the web site and that was that, end of an epoch for myself and William.
In anticipation of this William had a  trial, with The Akademisk Boldkub and it was agreed he could winter train with AB,s Elite team 1996 under Bjørn Dyrmose. I had done my homework and spied on their training, i liked their style and the trainer was good (At least as good as myself-this was difficult for me to admit). The big question was , is this trainer (Bjørn Dyrmose) clever enough to see what potential my son William has? was he brave enough to add him to his very successful troop? and why should he take the chance.?
Bjørn took the chance and my son William took the chance. William survived the cut and became an ABer. An elite tournament with AB in Odense, another part of Denmark against opposition only Bagsværd could dream of OB , AGF, Brondby etc etc cemented him new mates and helped him put behind his loyalties to his team mates at Bagsværd who he had served fantastic over 5 years. William was no longer a big fish in a little pond , now he was a little fish in a big pond,. Their is no holding back, competition is fierce with new talent attracted to AB regularly. Ironically DBU changed their decision after we moved to AB and now the boys of year 1996 will play 11a-side. I call it fate, and now i remain a loyal servant at Bagsværd training the year 2000 and my youngest son Oliver.
William goes from strengh to strengh and has established himself as a fast 1st team player. Williams trainer Bjørn will now give way to a new 11a-side trainer, so everyone will be giving that extra to make a good impression.

William through out this period has matured incredibly and the final decision has always been his., He went to his first training alone on the train and he has grown 10 meters in stature. His loyalty is now to Bjørn and AB and that is fine with me. It has been very important in his personal development to have another view about himself and football other than that of his dad who was also his trainer.-Now he knows he is good and it is not just something his dad says. It makes cutting the umbilical cord a little bit easier, but i miss our rituals when we left the house together. Now i hope to repeat the formula that works with Oliver.
AB,s under 19 year old are the Danish champions, The under 13s will surely follow suite with a super troop of big talents and great one touch football under Bjørn.  AB,s under 10,s under Dennis Bøner have also just won their 1st division group.(maybe my son Olivers future team.?but first he will prove his worth with Bagsværd as William has done.).
