How i came to Denmark from my native Northeast England is a long story,. However i could not have arrived at a place more closer to my heart , and can best describe Denmark as a BIGGER football land than my own football nation England. Including the berserk fans of Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle (North east English teams) Now i am not talking about the Premier League , with very few home grown British players , but Denmark's homegrown success, their is no comparison,. Denmark's thriving talent base and the energy, facilities and infrastructure are an example to other lands. England has been playing catch up in the latest years, but still i think you the Danes are in front. I am optimistic that my talented children to my Danish wife, will have a much improved chance of making the grade ("If they want to and if they are good enough or lucky enough") in Denmark, than if they where brought up in England. (55 million people to pick 11 men from or 5 million, the chances are already 10 times better before one even considers everything else Denmark has to offer as a great football nation.) Danish players are highly prized in the English leagues, for their technical skills. This website is a cross between my own family's sporting history and success or failure and will give me a database or rather history which i can reflect on when i am old and finished. Following our story will also be informative about the local Sjaelland football scene which covers about 1/3 of Denmark, with focus very much on football youth at grass roots, For this background i will draw on my eight years as a trainer and my years as a player. First into this family portrait i would like to introduce my daughter Rebecca Louise Angus 22 years old ( English from my first marriage). Rebecca is an England International who scored in her debut game against the USA when England met USA , Norway and Germany in February 2009 on La Manga. England won 3 - 1. Rebecca plays professionally for Kolbotn the top Norwegian woman's team. She scored also the deciding goal in the Norse Kings Cup and was presented to "Kong Harald" at the Bisset stadium last November 2008. Follow Rebecca's team www.kolbotnilkvinnefotball.com Since then Beckys team has finished 3rd, twice in the "Top Serie" leauge. Recently Nov 2009 Rebecca has renewed her improved contract with Kolbotn.
Next is my first son to my danish wife Ditte : William Angus 13 years old. William is Denglish (½ Danish ½ English ) He is also an Akademisk boldklub (AB) elite player originally under Bjørn Dyrmose,. Under Bjørn they won silver at Viborgs final elite 7 a-side competition, where teams from Denmark's top clubs participated and the best two from Poland. OB , AGF, Randers, Vejle , Brondby, Esbjerg amongst some of the 16 names. AB as the only invited Danish side also played in Germanys largest competition with other European teams, (Noticeably no English teams ?)The Karlsrhur Cup-Wacker Insbruck, Koln, Stuttgart, Borutia Munchen , Duisbjerg and many other top clubs. In the Autumn they visited Locomotive Moscow and other Russian, Finish and Swedish teams in Finland.. We will follow his progress from grassroots club football at Bagsværd with me as his trainer the first five years, and his progression with AB to an exciting future from now into 11a-side football. Follow Williams team www.ab96.dk Sadly Bjørn Dyremøse finished at the top winning at the very first attempt the transition from 7-aside to 11a-side winning Division 1 at the end of 2008. It would take a brave man to step forward and fill Bjørns shoes after his success. Basse came forward and a big round of applause for him, but unfortunatly he could not build on Dennis Bøner and Bjørns earlier enthusiasm and success, In fact things went down hill at an alarming rate. At the eleventh hour when everything was looking grey Kenneth Santa, arriving from Farum Nord Sjælland stepped forward, and a huge sigh of relief was released, he can only be described as a football crazy nut, who showed this instantly by choosing to take the team to Italy on tour instead of going on holiday with his wife. Enthusiasm is one thing but is it enough? Yes it is , AB 96 have in fact one of the best technical trainers they could have hoped for, and only after some months could i openly say he has my complete support. William and myself stopped dicussing other possibilities and dropped the idea of playing for arch rivals lyngby, even though William got the green light from Lyngbys 1st team after taking trials for them just befor "Santa" arrived.

Last but not least we will follow the progress of Oliver Angus now 9 years old.(Also "Denglish") Oliver has also a large talent that i will try to develop to the maximum , We played 5 a-side football with Bagsværd for the first 18 months(again), with me again as Olivers trainer as i was with William the first five years. In the last 18 months playing 7a-side we established ourslves as one of the best teams on Sjælland, with a great little team coming from our little club, which surpassed the 5 years of success which i had with his brother Williams year 96 team. However a hard lesson was learnt by me (Olivers far/trainer). The hard lesson was that the small clubs can create teams to compete with the big clubs, but maintaing that standard is much more difficult compared to the big clubs,. Natural losses, boys stopping for one reason or another, can not be replaced or trained as quickly as they go to the bigger clubs. We were victims of our own early success with other bigger clubs jealousely looking at our boys. At this point Oliver crossed over to our big brother club AB in a year group over himself. He has been placed after his trials in AB,s year group 99 2nd team. This means he will continue to play in division 1 as AB have two teams in Division 1 in diffrent groups.I am particularly pleased that he will come under training from Dennis Bøner. Under the guidance of Dennis Bøner and hopefully Bjørn Dyremøse from AB at a later point., who will take them the next step up.This is a winning trainer AB team who have proven themelves in the past with older brother Williams year group 96 AB team. (To me , having the right trainer is more important than being at a specific club) Follow Olivers team www.bagsvaerd-00.dk for his ealy years and AB 99 2 hold for his present team.In his first game for AB Oliver scored the opening goal in the "Champions League" for kids after only 5 seconds on the clock. I will also try to explain the formula that works for me as a trainer my good and bad experiences the mistakes pitfalls and the pleasures and successes. Maybe someone will be motivated to give back something to a fantastic sport like football is, and nurture not only his own talent full children but also all the others children that help make a team , a troop that can compete with the best. In amongst them somewhere is a laudrup waiting to be discovered and taught. What if it was you who identified that talent ?, what if that talent was your own son and you give them that helping hand.? As a father and trainer i have to always remember and remind myself at the end of the day it is their personal choice that is the most important , and i will and must always respect what they want to do and not what i would like to see happen. All i can do is give them the tools to do the job, if they want to do it. Lucky for us all we are just still enjoying our football. It should always be fun with a touch dedication,. After 8 years i have accomplished my mission. Both my boys have had a good grounding in basic principles and played at a high level in a smallerclub befor joining the same big brother club AB, and continue to play at the highest possible level. After 8 years i will be taking some time of over the winter of 2009/10 to catch up on some of those neglected duties around the house, for example to finish my bathroom (3 years). AB have also offred me a place recently with their AB 99 squad of 50 boys as a trainer and have paid for one of my training certificates,. I am sure my future lies here, but right now i would just like to reflect on eight wonderful years with little brother club Bagsværd.It is the end of an epoch for me and my boys.

The year 96 (Årgang 96)
As a trainer my first big project was the year 96 Bagsværd (Willy,s team) .We started at that time with a chip and chap team in the lower leagues. Over 3 years my team "Chip" were eventually strong enough to compete in the first division after successive successful seasons. We reached a promotion place not less than 4 times out of six tournaments at that time. The following 2 years where much tougher, but now we played up there with the big clubs in the 1 division. Our greatest achievement was winning a 22 team winter tournament at 1st and 2nd division level the Chevrolet Cup 2006/07. The following spring we reached 4th place in division 1. In the same split season my new 2nd team where double promotion candidates in 1st and 3rd place this would lift them from the 4th to the 2nd division. This was fantastic for the boys who had only experienced in a large part defeat after defeat and a relegation place not less than 5 out of 6 tournaments over the same 3 years as the "Chip"team was having it's early success. Now they also experienced winning as part of a collective squad - A troop. I have discussed it with Bagsværds full time head trainer Henrik Høj and he is in agreement that the year 96 was the best, and most successful Bagsværd youth side to date over a longer period. All good things must come to an end, and i stopped as trainer to the year 96 team , primarily so i could focus on Olivers (my second son) development , especially after William (my first son) left our team to try out with the elite team at the Akademisk boldklub (AB) under Bjørn Dyrmose. After a short rest i could now concentrate on my new big project, after i knew William was established at AB. I truely believe the year 2000 (årgang 2000) can be even better than the year 1996 (årgang 96) partly because i am more experienced and more willing to share responsibility , and partly because we have a stronger group as a start to work with. We are organised. We have sponsors , and a tour is not impossible, and not least there are many helping hands - a problem with the year 96! (To be fair they made an attempt at the end but it was to little to late something our parent group should be aware off). We appear to have started really well with a dynamic team on and of the pitch. Bent Hansen, as coordinator and myself as trainer with 2 helper trainers Rasmus and Jeppe. Continue the good work, so our children have a good time and experience and we can all move forwards together. Sander and Torben have also offered their help in training - brilliant! William Angus and Oliver Angus (my sons) have played for/play for the respective teams year 1996 and year 2000. Information primarily about year 2000 will be spiced with information about the year 1996 for comparison. There will also be a link to Williams and Olivers big sister Rebecca Angus (Becky) . Rebecca is a womens England international player, who recently scored her debut goal against the USA. ( 3v 1to England ). My daughter also plays professional football in Norway for Kolbotn who won the final of the King Harald Cup to be Norwegian champions in front of 10,000 fans in November. Becky scored the deciding goal and was presented with the trophy by "Kong Harald". All this football should drive a wife crazy , but my wife loves to hear all about the games and without her enthusiasm and understanding it would be impossible to dedicate so much time to my greatest passion.(It is after all ,for our boys and yours i do it.)
